Mount Nittany Blue Loop - Jog?

Melanie and I decided to spend our last afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend by going for a hike on Mount Nittany. It's been a year or two since we last ventured up the mountain behind our house (yeah, pathetic!).

We headed up the White blazed trail which is wide and has less rocks, but is a steeper climb out of the gate than the Blue blazed trail. Once we summit, we head to the Mike Lynch Overlook for a view of Happy Valley. We then proceeded around the perimeter of the mountain on the Blue blazed trail. Melanie was looking to avoid her treadmill this evening, so we jogged the less rocky parts of the trail. You can see the spikes in our speed profile below by clicking "Stats".

I was also anxious to try the Trails App for the iPhone. The union of technology and adventure is of course perfect for me! Trails has not disappointed and combined with EveryTrail has yielded mapping, elevation and speed profiles, hike stats, and geotaggged slideshows as shown here.

Jimmy Cleveland Hike

Jonny Cool and I headed out for a day-hike on Nittany Mountain to the Jimmy Cleveland memorial. It was 78 years to the day that the air mail pilot had crashed here, so what better hike for Memorial Day Weekend?

Check out Jonny Cool Outdoors for the professional quality pictures.
