First Geotagged Trip is Online!

We've been experimenting with Geotagging our pictures. If you are not familiar with Geotagging, it's the practice of adding longitude and latitude data to your pictures so you can cross reference them on a map. Google has made it easier by integrating Picasa, Google Earth, and Google Maps.

You can check out our first Geotagged pictures at the Valley of Fire National Park in Nevada! After following the link, you can click on the push pins on the satellite image to see the exact spot where we took the picture. It's the Google Maps interface, so you can pan and zoom as you like. You can tell by the push pin clusters that some areas were more photogenic than others. :)

PCB West 2007 classes let out early!

I attended PCB West in Santa Clara, CA (Silicon Valley) from March 26-30. Luckily for Mike and I, the classes on Wednesday ended around 2PM. We took this opportunity to drive 45 minutes south through the mountains to Santa Cruz. The weather was perfect, especially for two guys from Pennsylvania.

We then drove the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) up the coast to San Francisco. If you're ever in this area, this drive is a must! The views along the jagged coastline are spectacular.

After paying a small fee to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, we were able to perform a u-turn and drive up to an overlook in the Golden Gate National Recreational Area.

San Francisco is a very beautiful city; the water, hills, trolleys, like the Pittsburgh of the west. If it weren't for the earthquakes, it would be perfect. I've been fortunate to travel here a half dozen times or more for work. Hopefully the next trip will be with Mel as she is very jealous.

First Pictures Uploaded

We've just uploaded our first of many albums to come. These pictures are from our recent trip to Las Vegas. Per Dad Sliwinki's recommendation, we took a day trip to Overton, NV (less than an hour northeast of Vegas). Melanie had to give up Blackjack for 8 hours, but it was well worth it. We had beautiful clear skies and 70°F is more than welcome in a place called the Valley of Fire!

New Site is Online

We are trying something new here at briandmel.com. Per the advice from the admins @ thepolettos.com and thewhitsels.com, we are now powered by Blogger with ties into our Picasa Web Albums. This should make updates much easier, which equals less delay in delivering the latest news and pictures to you.

Enjoy!
Bri and Mel
